How to chose the right club
There are different kinds of clubs. In many cities, you will find a wide variety of clubs. Each of them is dedicated to a special type of party crowd. If you chose the right one, it will fit perfectly to you. If not, you might end up frustrated. Therefore, you should take some time to gather information.
Music:
Some clubs only play one type of music throughout the entire night. Other clubs change styles about half-hourly. There are clubs that rely on mainstream music while others play underground stuff. You should ask yourself which kind of music you like and compare it to the music you will hear in the club. If you feel uncomfortable with a special kind of music, don't go to a club that focuses on that kind of music. Even if a specific club is known to be populated by flirtatious boys and girls don't go there. If you're the only death metal freak in a hip-hop club, you won't find anybody interested in you. Moreover, even if it works and you find a partner for a long time relationship in that kind of club problems are preprogrammed. Arguments at home are inevitable when it come to questions which CD to play next.
Generally, clubs that focus on a special type of music are visited by people, which want to hear that music that kind of music. Flirting is often a second priority issue for them.
Style:
Clubs range from cheap to very expensive. Clubs with a stylish design look cool. Often elegant clubs are expensive as well. Clubs with a simple interior are good for wild parties while designer clubs are sometime visited by people which are just too cool- even too cool to party. If you don't feel comfortable with the prices you won't be either able to party. You will worry all the time about your bucks.
Sometimes club owners race the prices just in order to make people believe that their club is something special and upscale. Many people believe it. The consequence is, that these kinds of clubs are filled which medium income guests who think that they belong to high society just because they're at that club.
Party Crowd:
The most important factor of a club is the party crowd. This is especially true if you came to find someone to flirt with. A small club may provide a personal atmosphere that makes it easy to talk to other people. However, your selection is limited. In big clubs, there are many potential flirt partners. It depends on your personal preferences what you like better.

How to get information:
Gathering information is not to easy at all. Sure, some clubs try everything to make you aware of their existence. You should keep in mind that these clubs are often designed to get the money out off the pockets of tourists. A popular club doesn't need to hand out vouchers for a beer at every corner of the city.
An appropriate way to get information about a city's nightlife is to ask people. Ask friends which have already visited the city, ask the staff at the hostel or hotel you are staying at or ask some other people you met in the city. Be aware that different people have a different taste. Don't just ask "which club is the best in town", you've got to ask more (see criteria above).
Another way to get information is to buy local journals. Go to a newsstand and look around which kind of trendy print event guides are offered. Don't buy the city guides designed especially for tourists. They usually don't give you hints about the really cool spots. If you are going to record or cloth stores, watch out for flyers. If you are walking through the city and see a cool store the probability is high, that you'll find cool flyers there as well.
It's always good to have an idea what's going on in the city before heading out. If you're just starting into the night, you'll spend most of the night searching for the right club. This can be very frustrating. Therefore you should use the day to learn about the cities nightlife.
